Alistair Barrie : No More Stage 3 5*****

| On 21, Aug 2015

Somewhat a comedy veteran these days Alistair Barrie can always be relied on to deliver a well written, excellently delivered and funny show, and this is no exception.

But I did wonder if it would be given the subject of his wife’s diagnosis of breast cancer, not a subject that really jumps out as comedy gold.

What Barrie does is to catalogue their plan to deal with the awful news, to own the situation and make the best of it, both for themselves and to maybe ease the process for similar sufferers.

Barrie has delightful anecdotes along the way, new home purchase, his beloved dog Bagel, a horrendous time trying to get out of Afghanistan when the news broke, their wedding, the gallows humour of his mates and a Twitter aided battle with a budget airline are mixed cheek by jowel during the course of the hour.

The use of PowerPoint, not created by him, illustrates some of the story, a story of triumph over the most awful adversity. A story that should not be missed.

As part of the PBH Free Fringe entry is free but a bucket collection is taken at the end. Dig deep. Not only for the show but Al is donating a percentage of the take to a cancer charity.
