Tweedy's Massive Solo Show 5***** - One4Review

Tweedy’s Massive Solo Show 5*****

| On 23, Aug 2026

I’m not new to Tweedy, having seen Tweedy’s Massive Circus some time ago and finding it fun, but that was about it; however, I now realise on reflection that the best thing about that show was the man himself, and this new show is just him, and that makes it so much better than just ‘fun’! By shedding the supporting cast, it lets Tweedy’s genius shine, proving he is one of, if not the, authority on clowning at the Fringe. With a manic, lightning-fast stage presence, you’ll at times be reminded of Robin Williams and also Charlie Chaplin (high praise indeed, truly earned!).

Tweedy is a master of physical comedy, and there is a constant barrage of both physical gags and charming crowd work; he doesn’t miss a single opportunity for a visual joke, whether it’s falling through furniture or watching a clown’s trousers fall, you can’t look away! I found the insanely funny ‘constant lost shoe’ gag a stroke of pure genius and heard myself say out loud, ‘How does he keep doing that?!’ and I’ve seen more than my fair share of these types of shows. Tweedy is constantly at battle with his array of props, from juggling to precariously balancing hats on his chin; it’s a tour de force!

There are several joyful audience interaction moments for both young and old; we see a small one become the king to send Tweedy an urgent message, and we all get to join the bell orchestra that rings a treat. The musical numbers are such a nice touch that I’m still humming Singing in the Rain and debating how long it takes to learn to play a harmonica that small. It’s a level of creativity that you sit in awe at.

I think it’s easy to see from the above that I’m a fan, but I’ll say this: as someone who grew up watching Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin, Tweedy echoes something forgotten. He makes it look like easy, childish play, when it’s actually, clearly, much more complicated and physically exhausting, I imagine. We’re transported to a world of pure magic where we get to forget the outside and just feel the joy. This is the best clown show, the best children’s show, and the best family show. Hands down. 10 stars.
