Burce Tutku Tuncali- Perfectly Imperfeckt! 3.5*** - One4Review

The lovely Burce Tutku Tuncali is a Turkish born stand-up comedian, writer and actress that has been performing for over 9 years now debuts at the Edinburgh fringe.
Burce confidently begins the show with a little introduction and gets to know the audience with a bit of who are you and where do you come from before going straight into her comedy routine. Her mum’s a previous comedy club owner now a gambler but what does she gamble on and what’s the tongue in cheek advantage of having a stalker? Sometimes when times are hard you have to sell things to make a living but how do you increase sales from selling something that usually can only be sold once?
Dating can be a bit of a minefield and Burce is no exception to the pitfalls of modern-day dating Apps, she joins a well-known dating App but can’t understand why she hasn’t had anyone contact her but perhaps she should have read the small print before joining! She goes on a date to see a show but what does she do when her date can’t afford the tickets? Burce then makes some clever comparisons with online dating and job hunting. She then asks the audience what their interpretation of love is and if it compares to Donald Trumps.
After a failed date in Tuscany, she discusses the pitfalls of buying a bargain in Turkey, but what might seem a bargain to you might not quite be the bargain you thought it was? She closes the shows with the thought of inheriting someone’s Instagram account and is her mum the best person to advise her about potential scams?
There is no doubt Burce is a confident, talented performer with some unique comparisons that provide fresh humour and keep the audience entertained. There were a few occasions where her accent made it difficult to get the full impact of the punchline but it should also be noted this was her opening show and she may have understandably have been a little nervous so I fully believe the performances will get stronger as she progresses through her run of shows. Was it Perfect, Imperfect or both? Well, the enthusiastic audience seemed to enjoy it!
