44 Minutes 4**** - One4Review

This show is a thriller theatre production performed by 4 professional actors in a small, caged venue which is brilliantly part of the show. The staging was minimal but brings the audience into the intense atmosphere that the show intends to create.
The show centres on 4 strangers waking in a small electrified space, trying to work out how and why they are there. Soon, they discover they are tasked with deciding who lives or dies in the next 44 minutes, ending with a sinister twist. The show gives a glimpse into the psychological torture of having to decide who deserves to live or not.
All four performers are professional actors who have done some TV work and their demonstration of what it may feel like to be in this situation was believable. The actors developed the characters into different personas effectively and the audience could quickly decipher the strong from the not so strong.
The set was very basic but to give the impression you were in a dark basement, surrounded by electric prison bars (metal poles) and dull lighting. This brought the audience into the show to share the feeling of being in a cramped, dark intense environment boosted by the actors’ performances of fear.
This show was truly interesting and effective. It often sells out and during the show I attended the cast received a standing ovation from some audience members. This is not a comedy show, but a dark tense psychological thriller that has the ability to give you goosebumps.
