Crybabies : The Scaring 5***** - One4Review
one4review | On 22, Aug 2026
White hot comedy group Crybabies, consisting of Michael Clarke, James Gault and Ed Jones, are once again bringing their parody horror play The Scaring to the Edinburgh Fringe and the results are a scream (complimentary).
Once one of the church’s premier exorcists, Father Arthur (Clarke) turned aside his dog colllar-after his last and most dangerous case got his partner killed. Now working in the heady world of immersive entertainment, he’s pulled back in to deal with what might be his
most dangerous haunting yet. Soon the former priest finds himself exploring the spooky goings on in an horridly haunted hotel with an obsequious and eccentric owner (Jones) and the ghost of one of the residents that apparently only he can see (Gault).
Anyone familiar with Crybabies’ signature style will know they are in for a treat as a series of silly spooky happenings unfold throughout the show, including some genuinely nicely done jump scares (though these are more hilarious than hideous if you’re of a timid disposition).
The story is fun and the gags are top notch.
This show has been selling out since it opened so you might be lucky to get a ticket, but if you get the chance and you are a fan of silly comedy, horror movies, and being able to say “I saw them before they were on TV” then this is the show for you.
