I’ve been wanting to visit the Edinburgh Gin Distillery for some time now and what better way than to sample so delicious gin based cocktails.  In very luxurious surroundings, we are led up to the bar area, greeted with a Gimlet cocktail, and where our hostess for the evening Adrianna sets the scene for the evening.

Two willing volunteers have to take on 2 experienced cocktail mixologists.  Well, my hand shot up and before I knew it, me and Archie from Edinburgh had our aprons on and we were set up ready behind the bar.  Don’t be put off if you’re not keen on gin, there are so many varieties and flavours, you’re sure to find something you like.

The audience then get to pick random ingredients for us to blend into cocktails for the crowd.  We did have a hand from Elle, who gave us some pointers on what might blend well with basil & mint. After some tasting and fine tuning, we then had to make enough of a batch for our thirsty audience.  And guess what, ours was voted the best.  Top tip mixology boys don’t include marmite!!

It was an absolutely brilliant event, that I hope Edinburgh Gin continue to have on offer long after the Fringe has gone.  I’m looking forward to going back already!
