Using any kind of disability to make people laugh can sometimes be a bit of a difficult watch, however, Aidan Greene’s show, Stuttermilk Pancakes, embraces his stammering with hilarious results. Don’t get me wrong, there are times where I wanted to help him finish a word or a sentence, but no need, the uncomfortable awkwardness of watching him try to get his words out is part of this very funny and cleverly written show.

This Irish funny guy’s dead pan delivery, interspersed with topical gags, life stories and audience interaction is joyous to watch, in this his 10th year at The Fringe. He doesn’t let his “grammar stammer” get in the way, and there’s no holding back on subject matter, everything is fair game.

The show has great energy, excellent use of powerpoint and some lovely moments, I particularly enjoyed hearing about his school days and how he coped growing up with a stammer. Some of the “correction techniques” he’s been taught over the years, were superb, and had the crowd howling.

On the whole, I found his set to be rather inspiring, here’s a guy who won’t be defined by his disability but instead uses it to his advantage to entertain a roomful of Fringe goers.
