Ali Brice: This Is The Way We Brush Our Teeth 3.5 ☆☆☆ - One4Review

Ali Brice: This Is The Way We Brush Our Teeth 3.5 ☆☆☆

| On 23, Aug 2026

Very shortly into the show, Ali tells us that he is exactly where he wants to be and doing what he planned to be doing, and this is both reassuring and unsettling. Reassuring that this is deliberate, and unsettling because this is deliberate. This is a show built around crowd work, so bring your yes-ands and be prepared to talk and this will be an utterly delightful experience.

Ali Brice seems sincerely interested in the answers he elicits from the audience, even if the audience are a bit bemused and primed to think that he’s asking in order to make fun of them. He’s not. He’s looking for the surreal and sublime, the silly and the absurd in our commonality, and finding laughter in unexpected places. So we’re asked about favourite towels, and to name dogs, what we’re scared of, and how often we brush our teeth, and invited to laugh together, not at each other.

Brice is an unexpected generator of warmth and audience-glue. He even won over the loud group of lads at the back of the room, and turned rows of strangers into a group rooting for and contributing to the success of the show (even if some would have preferred a less prominent role). This isn’t going to be a style that works for everyone, but with the right audience, willing to play, this show is magic.
