There are a surprising number of Elton themed shows at the Fringe this year. This, personally, is my second!

The show tells the love story of when Alice met Benny. It’s a rom com of sorts with some beautifully performed Elton classics which lyrically, magically, all seem to just fit perfectly. Alice Keys is a very impressive and talented performer. Her engaging and funny storytelling sits perfectly alongside her singing and musicianship.

This is the story of how Alice came to be the UK’s unlikely number one Elton John tribute act. It all began when Alice fell head over heels for Benny, the science teacher and huge Elton John fan. In order to bond and impress Benny, Alice thought the way to his heart, would be to “pretend” to also be a huge fan. She then set about buying all the albums and learning all the songs just to impress Benny. Then she discovered a true love for Elton’s music and subsequently a career culminating in being the UK’s number one Elton John tribute act.

She has Benny to thank for what is now her career. A career playing some prestigious, and not so prestigious, care home gigs!

Does Alice find true and lasting love with Benny? It’s quite a rocky road but in true rom com style, it does have a happy ending.

This is a really fun show and Alice is incredibly likeable. She cleverly includes some audience interactions throughout and everyone goes home having had a lovely time.
