Paul Merton, probably most famous for being a captain on BBC’s Have I got News for You has been a top Improv comedian for eons and together with his wife Suki Webster, also a star of the genre, are as usual selling out the massive Pleasance Grand daily with this show.
In addition to Paul and Suki, regular improv star Mike McShane, keyboard wizard Kirsty Newton are accompanied by a guest, Scottish comedy legend Fred McAuley on the day I attended.
The usual format, warming up the audience to shout out suggestions, bantering between the performers and a whole host of games follow, drawing laughter from all parts of the auditorium. The ‘games’ are fairly standard fair, but are executed with aplomb by the troupe and the odd bit of audience participation also.
Now Improv can be a bit hit or miss, but with such exponents of the art on stage, the likelihood of this failing to appeal is minimal.
This show is always a success, inevitably the sold-out signs are out daily so don’t delay in getting your ticket while you can.
