Arthur Vinegar mumbles onto stage a slovenly and disheveled..
Somehow he instantly connects with every single audience member through kisses, flirts, and winks.
Although he looks disheveled, he’s a handsome rogue who somehow puts everyone completely at ease. Not easy as a clown.
After a failed attempt to kiss his own foot ( I think?) , he ropes in an audience member instead — each delightful moment of improvisation that keeps us guessing and laughing throughout this madcap, silly, joyful sketch filled set.
Throwing on his clothes, he tumbles through a series of clown-like bits with vegetables that build and build into a surreal, spectacular finale. We are all completely invested – howling with laughter.
From the first wink to the final reveal, Vinegar held the room in the palm of his hand playing with unusual audience members individually with great skill.
Laughter rolling, shrieks bouncing, and joy spilling over like it couldn’t be contained.
This was first-class clowning. The only lull came during a song montage, but he rescued it instantly with outrageous flirtation with a silly audience member , pulling all of us right back onside.
I left feeling uplifted and transformed. What a gift. Take note: Arthur Vinegar is someone who’ll be on everyone’s radar in the years to come.
A clown with the skill to kill.
