Alix, played by Mimi Collins, is a down-to-earth married woman whose world is turned upside down when she receives a ‘Hey girl’ text and discovers her husband has been cheating on her. They don’t have any children but they do own a theatre company together which they set up after Alix husband’s failed acting career. As Alix ponders what to do, an investor will be arriving soon to inject some much-needed finance into the theatre. Can Alix keep it together until then or does she terminate her marriage?
When Alix discovered her husband was having an affair, she was in turmoil with herself and didn’t know whether or not to stay with him. After all, it’s only one lie — or is it? They attend marriage counselling and things appear to be improving, however Alix just can’t put her husband’s affair to bed. She seeks further assurance and, in doing so, uncovers further lies. After trawling through her husband’s social media, she uncovers the full extent of his deceit. When confronted about it, he admits it but tries to soften the blow. Every time she manages to move on, she discovers more and more about her husband’s betrayals. Alix is clearly hurt but also still in love with her husband. She asks herself: how many lies can she forgive him for or should she have left after the first one?
Alix makes one last attempt to spice up their marriage and sends him a nude picture. His reaction somewhat lacks enthusiasm so, desperate for the attention she was craving, she decides to post the picture on social media and receives an overwhelming response. This is where she meets her online ‘Daddy’ and Alix’s world is turned inside out as she discovers a side to herself she never knew she had. Her ‘Daddy’ leads her into a world of desire; her initial timid approach soon disappears as she grows into a confident woman who gains the satisfaction she needs. Deep down she still has feelings for her husband and knows the only way to finally leave him would be to sleep with someone else, but is she able to make that final step? The show ends with a bit of nudity as Alix reflects on her journey.
This one-woman show is a strong and courageous performance that digs deep into infidelity and highlights the turmoil and anguish of a woman who is pulled in different directions before being drawn into a world of seduction and desire. Collins delivers a performance that is not only memorable and intense, it’s a shocking emotional rollercoaster that does not disappoint!
