Showstopper! The Improvised Musical – 4.5****

| On 12, Aug 2026

An improv musical, not going to lie, I had my reservations, but wow, “Showstopper! The Improvised Musical” is absolutely tremendous. In a packed out Pleasance Grand, this tour de force grabbed my attention and wouldn’t let go.

Every night will be a different show, a different genre of musical and a different storyline, really a show for all ages. It’s so damned clever, witty songs, and one-liners from the cast makes this a must-see. The performances are professional and polished and very accomplished indeed. The on-stage band can turn their hand at whatever is thrown at them.

The narrator sets the scene for us and there’s loads of audience participation. The evening I went, I was lucky enough to witness a shark attack set to Hamilton, Chicago and Sister Act. Shark-cargo would you believe.

The costume changes are slick, the dialogue is very funny, the singing is wonderful and they are an incredibly talented bunch of people. Their ability to float between musical genres is effortless and the red and black themed costumes adds a different dimension.

This a real feel-good show, we were thoroughly entertained and I’m going to go back to see this again with a bunch of my friends, if I can actually get my hands on some tickets!!
