Justina Seselskaite — Settled 4.5 ****.5

| On 13, Aug 2026

“Hello, I’m Justina Seselskaite. Yes, I have a cool name.”

From the off, you can tell Lithuanian Seselskaite is not from these parts mentally, moved to the UK 11 years ago and is now firmly settled in the UK via Preston and now Manchester. Content, maybe. Settled, as the title suggests, the jury is still out.

She has found the sweet spot between being an immigrant, becoming patriotic British, and still having one foot firmly planted in Eastern Europe. The result is a show that proves to be both personal and gloriously silly, as the audience tries to understand why anyone would actually want to move here in the first place.

For the next 45 minutes, she packs in so much in deliciously controversial opinions, not least her belief that Brexit is going well, getting hit on by an 18-year-old, and her observations on bisexuality and the humble boast status symbolisms that can arise.

The best is a brilliant section on Lithuanian plagiarism, and the somewhat questionable national attitude towards stealing music; the fascination with clothing stripes is seen as an Eastern European class system. Add to that attempts to become an actress, pyramid schemes and the final endgame of being accepted and assimilated into British society? Go to Tenerife.

What makes Settled work is that there is a real sense that she’s having an absolute ball telling these stories. She is absolutely on fire, one of the best female comedians around. This is an exemplar of comedy and how to approach a Fringe show: come armed with a good story, a ridiculous number of observations, and, of course, yes, a very cool name.

Going to be huge, or deported for being remarkably talented. Get along and decide for yourself.
