Aalex Mandel-Dallal is a bundle of chaotic energy who exudes warmth and friendliness. She makes a big entrance, happily avoiding taking out herself or anyone else, and her enthusiasm immediately disposes us to go with her on this rambunctious exploration of her self.

This is far from as pretentious as it sounds, and Ms Mandel-Dallal explains that she worries about remembering who she is, loosing connection to her sense of self, so she has a collection of objects that help her sustain her memories. The audience is invited to shape the show by selecting objects for Ms Mandel-Dallal to tell us about, and though this we get a sense of Ms Mandel, along with some excellent comedy, and some wickedly re-worked lyrics.

This structure works well, gives the audience even more investment in the show, and demonstrates Ms Mandel-Dallal’s control and skill: everything flows smoothly and ties together, even if it’s not necessarily in an order she’d expect. It’s not a show where the front row need be avoided either, it’s a chatty, informal sort of show, and Aalex interacts with sincerity.

Aalex tells us she worries about a lot of things, but she needn’t worry so much about this show: it’s really good fun, engaging and easy to be the audience of, with an ending is as delightful as it is unexpected.
