Frisky’s Remix Roulette is a brilliantly fun and unpredictable hour, in a very cool venue in St Andrew Square.

The premise is simple: Frisky takes suggestions from the audience – a song and a completely different musical genre – and, together with her fantastic band, creates a new version on the spot. We were treated to combinations including R&B Spice Girls and a Punk-style Shat upa Your Face, with genuinely hilarious results.

Frisky is an incredible singer, but it’s her ability to work with the audience that really makes the show. She’s quick, warm and very funny, making the audience participation feel completely natural rather than forced or awkward. She has a real talent for getting everyone involved while keeping the whole thing moving.

The band deserve a lot of credit too. They’re excellent musicians and somehow manage to keep up with whatever strange combination the audience throws their way.

It’s clever, spontaneous and very funny, with a real feel-good atmosphere throughout. And because so much of the show is shaped by the audience, no two performances will ever be quite the same.

One of my favourite shows at the Fringe this year – I’d happily go back and see what they come up with next.
