The Adventures of Jasper Cromwell Jones 3.5***

| On 21, Aug 2026

Jasper Cromwell Jones is a character created by award winning comedian and actor Joe Bor. Jasper Cromwell Jones is a posh idiot who likes to describe himself as an explorer, and let’s be clear, that can only be the job of a person who identifies as extremely posh.

He would like to think that he is an explorer, perhaps a bit like Bear Grylls, only considerably less successful. By way of a bit of background, we see images of Jasper growing up with mummy and daddy, although he didn’t see a great deal of either of them as he’d mostly be at boarding school or possibly in another wing of the house / castle. There is some clever and funny audience interaction as Jasper chooses an audience member who looks the part and challenges them to a “posh off”. There could, of course, only be one winner!

Jasper is a very endearing and engaging storyteller as he recounts the tale of losing his father after he left to go on one of his expeditions. Jasper sets out to find his body and bring it home to mummy. In an extraordinary turn of events it turns out that daddy is alive! This is a shocking revelation and stern words are had with daddy and it turns out that mummy knew all along.

Joe Bor’s alter ego is a character who is both humorous and engaging, and I think we all know one. The use of visuals to illustrate the story and give context were very funny and added another dimension. I think the character has so much more potential. Perhaps Jasper Cromwell Jones could have some more adventures and make a return to a future Fringe.
