Katie Boyle- Irish Immigrant 4**** - One4Review
one4review | On 23, Aug 2026
The Irish stand-up comedian from Kildare, Ireland now living in New York returns to
the fringe for the 2 nd time. In this home from home setting, the sell out audience gave
her a warm welcome.
After explaining about her stalker and checking the coast was clear, she explains how
the Americans didn’t think she was Irish enough before delivering a risqué punchline
about having shots at the bar. She has ADHD and explains so do most Irish people,
but would you ever compare being Irish to a well-known Italian dish?
Katie has never forgotten her roots and informs the audience of the origins of Ireland
followed by some Irish folklore, from fairies to leprechauns and vampires to
banshees, Katie’s informative and of course funny explanations had the audience
raising eyebrows one minute and laughing the next and explains the one thing
everyone thinks originates from Ireland, doesn’t! However, did you know the word
boycott originated from Ireland? Well sit back and let Katie explain.
Katie makes some comparisons between the Irish and Americans and also tells the
folklore story when an Irish giant and a Scottish giant were fighting each other which
explains how the giant’s causeway came to be, but as expected, Katie puts her own
spin on it and relates it to the intelligence of men. When she moved to the USA, she
struggled with dating as she found American men were a little more forward than Irish
men and how some Americans thought the IRA was something completely different!
She informs the audience she is now engaged and has a very understanding fiancé
especially when she is having her period and explains the reason why women are so
grumpy at that time of the month. She explains that most men don’t know how to cope
with women during this time but like most things nowadays, did you know there was
an App to assist you? After cramming so much material into her one-hour show, Katie
concludes and brings the show to an end.
Katie oozes knowledge and confidence and delivers a fast paced yet fascinating
insight into Irelands past and its folklore while managing to keep the audience
entertained throughout. Worth seeing, to be sure!
