Jack Brookmyre brings his one man show ‘Impressionable’ to the Fringe and, I have to say, what a great first impression.

This young Glaswegian lad has the audience in the palm of his hand from the get-go.  It’s not just a show where he mimics the famous, it’s a very funny stand up brought to life with his uncanny likeness to his victims.

His show is absolutely crammed with content, and it has a brilliant flow whilst the humour is incessant.  He easily moves from famous people to regional accents.  Covering a plethora of topics, we discover his subject matter is very topical and relatable. Whether it’s politics, the environment or current affairs, he delivers a very solid performance.

He’s a very natural performer, but has the look of an awkward teenager which he uses to great effect.  His comedy is intelligent, fresh and very funny indeed.  Great energy levels throughout, he has an air of confidence akin to a seasoned performer.

There’s something for everyone in this debut Fringe outing.  A great offering from “The Gawky Wee Guy”, catch him now — definitely one to watch for he’s going places!  Never mind a good first impression, he’s definitely left a lasting impression on me.
