When you enter the room, the first thing that catches your eye is the random socks lying on the floor. All will be revealed later,but if you think that’s bizarre, Amy enters the room and recruits two audience members to assist with the production!

As you are reminded throughout the show: the world is a dark place. But Amy sets out to change all that with her own unique style of comedy therapy and draws references from her ‘journal of joy’. As she bursts into the first of many songs throughout the show, her zany enthusiastic personality is there for all to see.

Born in Derbyshire, she moved to Japan with her mum and dad, who were both teachers, before moving back to England and going to university in Manchester. Not only did she learn to speak Japanese, she learned some Japanese games to play as well. The first game involves a bit of audience participation and half a dozen oranges!

Amy then confesses to her imperfections, one of which is her feet and her unusual obsession and love for shoe horns! Without spoiling the plot, an audience member is invited on stage to help remedy the problem with a hilarious outcome! Amy then introduces ‘tit flash’. However, before the reveal, all straight males are ordered not to look and to stare at the floor so I have no idea if she did it or not. Given her whacky personality, I wouldn’t be surprised if she did. Amy then tests her vocal cords and delivers a funny operatic song about her breasts — putting humour aside, the quality of her voice was surprisingly fantastic.

The final game involves the socks that are randomly scattered between the rows of seats on the floor, the idea of the game seemed odd at first but I surprisingly enjoyed it. It was also a good way to get the audience to interact with each other and it certainly got everyone laughing.

Before closing the show, she reveals some of her Instagram interactions and how she copes with online criticism; her responses are so witty and funny and one of the comments is encapsulated in her final song which is also extremely funny.

To enjoy this show you have to buy into it and join the joyride. Amy can transform a quiet room into a riot and her enthusiasm rubs off on you. A very good performance from start to finish with a zany theme throughout.
