If you’re into magic and comedy, then James Phelan’s “Showman” is the very show for you. Not only is he an incredibly talented magician, but he brings a fantastic night of entertainment full of fun and laughs.

Audience participation makes up a huge part of the show and it’s done beautifully. Willing participants are subjected to hypnosis, magic tricks and plenty of laughs at their expense. He manages to captivate his audience, and we are on the edge of our seats, trying to work out what he’s going to amaze us with next.

The venue lends itself to the whole experience, there’s a magical circus vibe. The whole show is extremely well put together and highly polished. There’s brilliant energy and atmosphere and it’s thoroughly entertaining. James has a wonderful stage presence, and the balance between trickery and humour is exceptional. This show is well worth seeing even if you’re a magic sceptic.

I’m still trying to work out his tricks and mind reading skills, and it’s a show that I feel has something for everyone. This “Showman” is a total natural and his show is one you won’t forget. Catch him before the Fringe ends.
