Is Pepsi Okay? Gareth Waugh 4 ½ ****

| On 18, Aug 2026

Gareth Waugh has been a top performer on the comedy scene for over 15 years, both here in his homeland and further afield. He has many Fringe shows under his belt also, always delightfully crafted, packed out with delightfully funny material, often self-deprecating in style.
His show this year started with him setting the scene that as a comedian he is always chasing gigs, he has a family to feed after all, being tour support for big names, cruise work, hell even opening prior to a BPD dart evening.
When someone who he thought of as a friend approached him for some well-paid work in conjunction with the biggest soft drink supplier, naturally he was interested. Who wouldn’t be?
As the hour unfolds however it turns out that it was not all as it seemed. For the rest of his time Waugh tells the story, ably illustrated by PowerPoint slides, some heavily redacted occasionally relating the whole true crime story.
This was a slight departure from the usual show he delivers, maybe the subject matter meant that there were slightly less laughs than is the norm, but there were still enough. The storyline had the audience hooked throughout.
Waugh’s show is well constructed, the delivery excellent as always , and he is in control from the off.
This was a change in direction for him, one that worked well. Go see it for he is definitely the real thing.
