Aarian Mehrabani: How's Your Head? 3*** - One4Review
one4review | On 16, Aug 2026
Aarian Mehrabani, of Iranian descent, describes himself as a triple threat. That is brown, blind, and gay, as well as an arts grant funding golden ticket winner. We are treated to his hopes and dreams of playing the Edinburgh Fringe. He sets his stall out early: “I’m Iranian and, no, I don’t have any updates.” It kills the audience.
What we learn is that this isn’t his first rodeo at the Fringe, and his Edinburgh experiences, including a local wedding, are hilarious. We hear about the potential show he was planning a few years back, a show he had been working on, the title of which is superb, being put on the back burner due to events beyond his control.
His strength isn’t really the journey thread as the fulcrum. It’s a little disjointed and doesn’t quite breathe as it should, but his observations on blindness and Iranian culture, with a bit of “I Am What I Am” thrown in, are great. Add to that a visit to New York and some unusual tourist attractions, and you have plenty that hit with the crowd.
Mehrabani is a talent and very likeable. He interacts well with his audience, and there is a natural warmth to him that carries the hour. Overall, it’s a good show from someone who clearly has the talent to go further and is worthwhile checking out.
