With as much spectacle as the material it parodies, this is a massive, and massively entertaining production of a show, which nevertheless maintains its joy in handmade props and silly jokes. A vague awareness of the films (just the first three) (Nazis, face-melting, snakes, and rolling rocks will be enough) is as much as is needed to enjoy this. The plot of all three films are rolled into one, and played by three fantastic actors (only three?).

The parody and the satire are sharp and thoughtful, but it’s very clear this comes from loving the source material, being fully aware of its flaws, and not afraid to point them out. The lovely framing device allows for the characters to confront the issues and explain how and why some things are being elided the way they are, as well as acknowledging attitudes and ways of thinking that wouldn’t (hopefully) fly now.

There’s so much excellence in this production that it it’s difficult to know what to highlight. There’s the props, with their attention to detail and the creative use thereof (the planes!), the lighting, the staging, the costumes, the use of the audience, the clever and the silly jokes, and all of it working together so coherently and seamlessly that it’s as difficult to pull apart the elements for individual praise.

This is a show with wide appeal – those who know the films inside out and those who have only a passing knowledge – and it’s hard to see that anyone could leave without thinking they had a good time. Superb, high quality production; extremely high chance of a really good time.
