Jake Baker – The Gentle Men’s Club – 3 1/2 ***

| On 22, Aug 2026

Apparently, there’s a masculinity crisis going on and Jake Baker is just the man to enlighten us all about it in his show, The Gentle Men’s Club”.
There’s a dearth of alpha role models, well nice ones anyway, and as a result young males are being left to their own devices. Has pack mentality evaporated, have the wolves been tamed?
Stag party’s have changed significantly the last one he went on was an incredibly tame affair, not like back in the good old days. He’s full of interesting facts and his references from his Ladybird book are very funny indeed.
Bringing up a family now-a-days is fraught with danger for the modern man, and it’s something Jake has concerns about. He makes some valid points about the lack of women in top jobs re-affirming that feminism should actually be about equality.
Jake is a very likeable stand up, and he delivers a confident performance on a subject that’s been making a lot of headlines especially on social media. I enjoyed his show very much as did his crowd, His story-telling is very natural and it’s full of humour. I’m expecting that this Fringe is a springboard for bigger a better things for this up and coming young star.
