Obie – Making Memories 3***

| On 19, Aug 2026

Obie has been a stalwart of the Scottish comedy scene for 20 years.
This year, he’s back, running down his greatest hits, with a board numbered with some of his routines from the past. It’s up to his loyal audience to choose, shouting out a number. The only issue is, he has to memorise the numbers and remember the set, no mean feat given there are 50 of them.
So we are treated to a wide range of topics, from the Glasgow Underground and how to feel good, to the pitfalls of gigging with Raymond Mearns.
Obie, in full Glasgow gruff, recounts stories and jokes, and his enthusiasm for this type of crowd is infectious. He’s playful and at times brilliant, particularly when setting up the A-Team-related gag and the best wild nights out sections, where at the end you will want to grab your passport and jump on the Venga bus.
There is a lot to admire in this set from someone who’s seen it, done it, and it’s well worth taking this trip down memory lane for a fun afternoon.
