One Man Musical – Flo and Joan 4½ **** - One4Review

One Man Musical – Flo and Joan 4½ ****

| On 20, Aug 2026

Having had successful runs both in Edinburgh and London this delightful show, written by Nicola and Rosie Dempsey, aka Flo and Joan have brought it back to the Fringe this year , as before, it is selling out daily.
Edward Easton plays The Man, very obviously being ALW who is the mainstay, but Flo and Joan are the band playing the music live and adding backing vocals at times too.
Easton all too briefly guides the audience through the life history punctuating the story of the early days, musical collaborators, multiple wives and theatre ownership, with numerous songs that identify their roots, skilfully poking fun at, but not lampooning in anyway.
There is camp humour, a beautifully constructed book, obvious talented and wonderful musicians and in Easton an actor who has oodles of ability and stage presence.
It is not essential to be a Musicals fan, given the profile of ‘The Man’ much is known of his life in pop culture, and you would be sure to have a great time. But if you are then this has to be must see.
My only disappointment, the wonderfully pithy dialogue that is normally demonstrated in a Flo and Joan show is obviously lacking, but obviously although they are creators it is all about The Man.
