I bumped into Ramsey Smith in the street, and his elevator pitch convinced me to go and see his show, “Keep The Receipt”. He’s incredibly laid back and his observational style is very easy to watch. He knows how to spin a yarn, he seems at home on the stage and he has a nice rapport with his audience.
This amiable Aussie is treading the boards at The Fringe for the first time, and he isn’t phased in the slightest. Edinburgh is keeping him fit, with all it’s hills and staircases, it’s the perfect way for him to try and get healthier. There’s also has a healthy balance between silly and serious, and his stories land well with his crowd.
There’s a certain skill involved in delivering an hour-long comedy show, and Ramsey keeps it going with relative ease. Each section flows very naturally into the next. Packed with content, we get to find out about his life and his thoughts. Now living in London, it’s a very different life to what he’s used to back home in Oz.
No need to “Keep The Receipt”, for there’s no refunds required at this show. It’s worth every penny.
