Joe Sib: Aggie A Comedy About Moms 4**** - One4Review

Joe Sib: Aggie A Comedy About Moms 4****

| On 18, Aug 2026

Joe Sib is back at the Festival, and he’s delighted. Edinburgh is like his adopted home, with a lot of his favourite bands, like The Exploited and The Rezillos, coming from here. They made up a huge part of his teenage life and influenced his career in bands, as co-creator of a well-known record label, and stand-up with his successful show California Calling. Today is a different creation altogether.

Half Irish, half Italian, Sib is here to talk about mums, specifically his, Aggie. Given that she was the one who suggested he go to the Fringe in the first place, he decided to take her along for the ride, travelling not only to the sights and sounds of Edinburgh, Italy and Ireland, but via memories of their life together.

What follows is a funny and revealing background to his early life, the family dynamic (“Italian women turn into handsome chicks”), his pre-teen attempts to become a magician, support for his career choices, and, finally, last year’s trip with the family unit to Italy and Ireland.

While the material seems very Fringe, Sib handles it with care, class and dignity, Pitched perfectly, and at the right venue and time, it’s full of laughs and lots to relate to and may well bring a tear to your eye.

Sib is delightful and engaging, and has created a funny and moving show. The writing arc is constructed with care, told by someone whose life story has veered into many successful left turns, and he can chalk this up as another signpost triumph.
