Everyone has been to a pub quiz at some time or another but have you ever been to one where the host interacts with the audience and performs improvised stand-up comedy as he goes along? Well brace yourself because not only is your grey matter going to get tested, you are going to get entertained along the way.

Professional quiz host James Beatty knows we all love a quiz and the chance to test our intelligence so if you want a break from the hectic hustle and bustle of the fringe then this is the show for you. The intimate venue means you can easily make friends as you join up to form a quiz team or play on your own if you wish. With a bit of audience participation and introductions, your ready to go. The questions are displayed on large cards to assist those with impaired sight or hearing.

There are eleven rounds of varied subjects, some you will expect but most you won’t. As the show progresses, James engages well with the audience and uses some of the information gained to provide some witty improv as he goes along. Some of the subjects used in the quiz are certainly unique and also add to the humour. The show concludes with a tally up of the scores to see who wins but he also lets you know how your score has faired in comparison to previous shows, are you Edinburgh Fringe’s finest quiz team?

The show is definitely more quiz than comedy, James interacts with the audience well and maintains a spritely energy throughout the show, keeping the audience entertained and active throughout. It’s something little different from the norm that’s worth seeing.
