Rosco McClelland – How could Hell be any Worse? 5*****

| On 09, Aug 2025

Rosco McClelland has always been a comic I have enjoyed seeing. His 2024 offering entitled Sudden Death was a slight departure from his norm, but the industry loved it. It was one of the best reviewed shows, he won international awards with it, and probably in no small way helped him win the 2025 Sir Billy Connelly Award for the Sprit of Glasgow. It also got him out of a cellar in the Old Town into a … much bigger and better cellar in the Old Town below a ‘sauna’.

But at what cost?

McClelland muses that although it was a conscious decision to write that show, revealing issues each night didn’t help his mental health, so if the last one was for the industry this one is for him.

The truth is he was written yet another fine hour of material, one packed with laughs, one he seems happy to deliver and his packed-out house loved from the start.

His style and delivery lend themselves to the content, he loves his robot hoover, treats it like part of the family, relates a story of the issues his mum had with hers, crows, foxes, opinions on Trump and Musk, potential of WW3, and the way the new plastic bottle tops annoy him. There is more of course. One is never short-changed by Rosco, and all of it top quality.

He has developed into a hot ticket over the years, deservedly so. I wonder how he would go if he got an above ground venue to play in.
