3 Little Wigs 3.5*** - One4Review

An entertaining cabaret act with some high energy dancing and very impressive vocal talents. This show is loosely based on three little pig’s fairytale, the only similarity is having three little pigs and a big bad wolf. The three little pigs enter a talent contest arranged by the big bad wolf and a glitzy show host who scheme to turn them into a main course at the Annual Feast of Champions.
The vocal talents of the lead pig and the big bad wolf were impressive. Unfortunately, the cast were hit with repeated tech issues and mics had to be constantly switched. Despite this, the cast kept the show going and developed the mic changes into their routine. The high energy and moves of the backing dancers were stunning, as were the glittery costumes.
The sound was a bit off for me, the backing music was, at times, too high or loud. Despite this, the cast belted out some classic tunes which you cannot help but sing along too. The use of the staging was maximised and the cast were able to deliver the show with minimal props required.
The show before ran late which impacted on this shows running. This resulted in bits feeling rushed and likely not helped with the ongoing tech issues. Being on so late, it can prove challenging to get home so if seeing this show before the end of the festival, it is something to consider. The cast have no influence over this and it was not their fault but it does have an impact being a member of the audience.
The show has the potential to be really great and it was incredibly enjoyable to watch. You cannot help but get caught up in the high energy and amazing tunes. I was likely there on a difficult night, where things did not all go to plan. The cast however are amazingly talented and just kept going. Don’t let one big puff blow your show down!
