The Boom Jennies – Mischief - One4Review

4 Star

****

The three person sketch troupe The Boom Jennies consist of Lizzie Bates, Catriona Knox and Anna Emerson, all well versed in the art of sketch and are returning once again to the Fringe with this years offering Mischief.

It is an essential part of this genre for the pace to be non-stop almost otherwise the energy can drop, and fair play to them it never had a chance to get even close to that as they packed in almost 20 sketches into their hour, all the devices employed to the nth degree, but with a high standard of material and some good character work throughout.

There was some audience interaction too, an extra recruited for a hen night and a guy who had to pretend to be a 70’s and 80’s rock star!! You may well ask, but it certainly added to the enjoyment and judging by the ovation at the reveal at the end I certainly was not alone in thinking this.

So instead of a late night stand-up why not try something different and see what mischief they can really get up to.
