Vinegar Knickers – On The Edge - One4Review

4 Star

****

Vinegar Knickers are collectively Samantha Baines, Katie Burnetts and Harriet Fisher, one of the many female sketch comedy groups that are around at the Fringe this year.

I saw the ladies show last year and thought they had great potential and am pleased to say that 12 months on they are realizing this.

There has never been a question in my mind to their performing ability, just that this year the quality of the writing is a major leap forward.

Opening in a launderette, and with the desire to be the edgiest group around the intrepid trio run the whole gambit of sketch show techniques, shortish sharp sketches, running and developing gags, some funny, if occasionally surreal material and quality comedy acting from all three, oh and don’t forget bacon too!!

I still feel they have more in their tank. Using the underwear analogy, last years show was like Primark, did the job, but this year’s more M&S much better quality. Next year? I would expect Janet Reger at least.
