The Barry Experience 4 **** - One4Review

Good, funny comedy doesn’t always mean the audience laughs constantly for an hour. Confident comedians with good material can take the time to tell a story or anecdote and make the audience wait for it. Mr Ferns (the eponymous Barry) is really good.
This is an hour of ‘normal’ stand up (they stand up, talk and be funny) with some extra bits thrown in. It’s about confusion and things which are irrational and make no sense when analysed. Barry tells stories which make him vulnerable, but also endeared him to the audience and meant they got involved. There’s a good variety to the structure of the funny, with some instant gratification, as well as some longer stuff and things which come back at the end.
Barry had a really good rapport with the audience, and dealt appropriately with the heckler. I believe the majority of the audience were feeling good about life by the time we left.
