Ed Gamble: Lawman 4**** - One4Review
one4review | On 18, Aug 2015
Ed Gamble likes playing by the rules. And some of them are his alone and his turn ‘em away at the door packed house is updated on these near the top of the show.
Gamble is another young white middle class comic but he certainly is a up there with the best. He has a raft of material, a pleasing delivery style and constructs his set well, with call-backs a plenty.
It takes no time at all for him to have the audience eating out of the palm of his hand as he opines on rule, hip-hop hype men, public transport, traffic wardens, people in authority such as cops and football referees, his weight loss, hotel food buffets and the state of his flat since his girlfriend moved in. A section on Batman shows his inventiveness as well.
There is no question in my mind that he is destined for bigger things, and a bigger venue would help, however the packed out cellar bar does add atmosphere to the experience. Demand to see the show is such that a token issue system has to be instigated due to number restrictions, so do make sure you are there early.
