Paul Riley: The little boy that Santa forgot! 4**** - One4Review

Paul is well known as the man who plays loveable rogue, Winston in BBCs Still Game. I have never seen him performing his own material so I was a little apprehensive. However, Paul asserts his humour straight away into the act, fears are quickly alleviated.
Paul talks through some of his time on Still Game, his relationships with the cast and some of the storylines being actual events in some of the casts lives. He describes the fun and hilarity the cast had on and off set all the while, keeping this show funny.
Paul does a brief Q&A which was unexpected so most of the audience were unprepared however there were a few questions asked. He has actually played Winston for over 25 years, which was a shocking revelation to me. He started here at the Fringe and the Still Game cast developed over the years.
After a quick interval, part two was a bit more risky when Paul makes jokes about religion, football and other controversial topics. Some of the jokes, in my opinion, would be better received in Glasgow as Edinburgh audiences are generally not that bothered by certain topics. However, it was still really funny and Paul was aware he had made several “red card” remarks throughout.
This show was a light hearted chatter with a performer who is well known as one character however clearly has his own quirks and talents. It was lovely to see Paul perform in his own right and talk about other projects he has been involved in over the years. I can see this show becoming popular over time.
