Sarah Keyworth – My Eyes are Up here 4 ½ **** - One4Review

I have only ever seen Sarah Keyworth on TV before, but such is their reputation and the little one can glean from telly I, along with many, many others packed into a cellar in the old town to witness the performance.
Sarah is a likeable person, who though seemingly slightly awkward on stage, however, is a born performer. From the off was into their hour, reacting to the sell-out crowd, conjuring up laughter from relatable subjects like growing up, teen rebellion and family occasions like holidays and birthdays and making every one feel settled in before reaching the main theme. They recently underwent top surgery to feel more at home with their non-binary identity. They relate the experience with skill, anecdotal situations, packed with laughs, who would have thought? The stories are usually heavily family centric, and Sarah is fortunate to have such a close and supportive one to fall back on.
This much acclaimed show, winning awards in Australia is certainly a huge hit in Edinburgh too. It is almost impossible to get a ticket at Monkey Barrel for the entire run, so much so that extra shows at larger Pleasance venues are on the cards to give more people a chance.
