Liam Farrelly: You Need to Shut Up 4**** - One4Review

Young Glaswegian comedian, Liam Farrelly, performs his show You Need To Shut Up to a full room at The Stand. A confident stand-up, he has a very laid back, lethargic style but his jokes are funny as hell and he has a great sense of timing. His subject material revolves around his life now and when he was growing up. And now he has a young family of his own, he’s had to become a responsible adult very quickly.
His homelife seems like a riot with 3 dogs, guinea pigs and a toddler, getting married and recently moving house, all adds to the stress and chaos. There’s great crowd work, and he’s so dead-pan that the laughs just keep on coming. Recalling a recent gig he had in a prison, with quite literally, “a captive audience” was a particular highlight, his content is very relatable and there’s a kind of almost “dad joke” humour running throughout.
His stories blend well together it showcases his talent superbly, his comedy is showing maturity well beyond his age. He knows how to read a room and get the best from his audience. I have a feeling we’ll be seeing and hearing a lot more from this rising star.
