Simon Evans - have we met 4.5**** - One4Review

Simon Evans never fails to deliver a first-class comedy show, and in a dark & creepy cave venue he shines with his show, “Have we met”. Navigating his way through old age, for someone who’s memory is fading, this Fringe favourite manages to remember a helluva content. Simon starts the show reminiscing about a number of comedians from the past who have obviously shaped his career and influenced his comedic style, and pays a lovely tribute to his good friend Sean Locke.
There’s a brutal sarcasm throughout the whole show with perfect punch-line timing. Incredulous tales, each told in a very believable, outlandish way, lifting the lid on what it was like for him raising a young family, US politics, the monarchy and living through covid times. Evans has a fantastic stage presence, and the audience hang on his every word.
The show has a beautiful flow and it’s paced to perfection, it’s witty, smart and razor-sharp, not too bad for an old guy who leaves cups of tea all over his house.
Have we met? Well in fact we have, 31 years ago on a TV show, which was a pleasure then and an even bigger pleasure now. Please keep coming to the Fringe, as long as you can remember!
