Ben Hart is a magician, storyteller and comedian all rolled into one. We saw him at the gorgeous Palais du Variete at Assembly George Square, which is the perfect setting for this theatrical and visually stunning show. The tricks Ben does are truly mind blowing. I saw this along with my 13-year-old who was sitting wide mouthed throughout most of the hour-long show.

Ben is more than just a magician, although of course he is exceptional at this. He is also very funny and has a wonderful way with the audience. This show does involve a lot of the audience so if you’re shy I’d suggest sitting at the back.

At times the show feels somewhat surreal, as Ben takes us into a Daliesque dream world which resulted in a jaw dropping trick of mentalism. He is an expert at building tension, and everyone was sitting on the edge of their seats for the finale.

If you’re only planning on seeing one magician/mentalist show this year then this is the one to see. Advertised for kids aged 12 and over which I think is appropriate as there is a bit of swearing and feels more mature than your average magic show. A must see.
