Lost Property – 5***** - One4Review
one4review | On 16, Aug 2025
Lost Property is a sharp, poignant and hilarious one-woman show that leaves a lasting impression, thanks largely to the outstanding performance of Amelia Dunn, who also co-wrote the piece with Tuia Suter. Dunn plays Alice, a woman embarking on an unusual quest during a tram journey: the search for her most intimate of possessions.
With earthy, unfiltered humour, Alice recounts her sexual history in a way that is both side-splitting and relatable. Dunn’s comedic timing is impeccable, delivering punchlines with such natural ease that the audience is constantly caught between laughter and shock. But there is far more to Lost Property than bawdy wit.
A fleeting glimpse of an old colleague hints at a shadow in Alice’s past, and the narrative begins to darken in tone. Dunn guides the audience into more serious territory with remarkable skill. She navigates this change seamlessly, revealing the damage that guilt can inflict on one’s mental and emotional well-being.
The writing has a clear message: silence serves no one. By telling her story, Alice – and through her, Dunn – makes a powerful case for solidarity, for speaking up, and for reclaiming your voice after trauma.
Dunn’s performance is both gut-wrenchingly funny and deeply moving, cementing her as a formidable talent. Lost Property is not just a play about loss; it’s about survival, self-discovery, and the courage to say the unsayable.
