“Her Raving Mind”, is a gripping journey through the eyes of El, a young Greek girl, played beautifully by Fenia Gianni. There’s a really dark atmosphere to the whole piece, echoed by the fact that it’s played out in one of the caves at Just The Tonic.

Childhood trauma and emotional abuse centres as one of the main narratives as she opens up to her therapist.  Never good enough for her mother’s dreams and ambitions, along with all the normal pressures of being a teenager have taken their toll on this vulnerable young girl.  She falls into a cycle of binge eating and poor mental health.

Fast-forward to being a young adult and these same insecurities re-appear in her torrid love life.  Suffocating and abusive, her controlling partner won’t let her break free or be herself, sadly a tale that’s only too common.

This is very raw, there’s a real minimalist feel to the performance and along with techno tunes and brutal honesty all thrown in for good measure.  An incredibly emotional piece of theatre performed by someone playing their heart out.
