Act Provocateur International are staging a specially adapted one hour version of Jean-Paul Sartre’s three hour original of No Exit. What has been achieved is a play with such intensity that it really gives the feel of being trapped in Hell, with the three characters, Inez, Estelle and Garcan. Superb writing, immense acting performances, powerful direction and interesting lighting all add to the spectacle that left me feeling emotionally drained, so I can only imagine how the actors felt. It is revealed how the three came to be there and that they were their own torturers with no need for outside assistance and they are certainly accomplished in these roles. The performance is occasionally explicit, often violent so would not suit everyone, but it is one of the most powerful plays I’ve seen for years. ****
