Moby Dick Rehearsed - One4Review

Not long after the release of the book ‘Moby Dick’ by Melville, an American town decides to do a read through of the new novel.  This Orson Welles’ adaptation was originally produced in both London and New York and made into a BBC-TV film which is lost. We are witnesses to this read through taking almost every word from the novel drawn from the authors experiences as a sailor in the 1830’s. This company set the scene well, they have very good costumes and the use of the minimal set is inventive.  The play punctuated with little bursts of song and some sea shanties.   Although it seemed a trifle too long for a typical Fringe show, it was very well performed by a talented young cast from Pepperdine University Malibu.   I would have loved to have seen them perform the Musical version as the voices I herd were very good. ***
