Early Long Island Iced Tea - One4Review

5 stars

I have enjoyed Peter Straker’s voice before and was intrigued to discover exactly what “Long Island Iced Tea” would deliver. Like the ingredients of the drink, after which the show was named, the contents of the show was a little of this and a touch of that.

A drinks trolley sat on stage holding several pre-prepared iced teas, a birthday cake, and other alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks.  From this Mr Straker and the audience sample the liquid refreshments.  On stage Mr Straker is accompanied by father and daughter Peter and Rebecca Brewis, who not only accompany him but also manage to inject a genteel humour.   During the course of the show musical numbers include; ‘Handbags and Gladrags’,  ‘Jackie’, ‘Ladies Who Lunch’, ‘Wild World’, ‘McCarthur Park’, ‘Toucha Toucha touch me!’,  ‘Moon River’ and the second Brel of the performance ‘Amsterdam’.  A very varied selection covering a wide mix of music from various available genres.

Just for the pleasure of seeing and hearing Peter Straker, this is a fabulous show to see, and a lovely way to set up a hectic fringe day.
