Horse - One4Review

It was a wet and windy day when I attended this production in the Hullabaloo Bosco tent, a wooden tent and the feeling of a draughty old stable was intensified with bales of straw, a vaulting horse and basically all things equine for this homage to the horse performed by Flick Fernando. Ms Fernando canters through her set, all of it having horsy connotations, be it dressed as one, reading extracts from Racing Post, or a Pony Club book, singing songs, or with a few character pieces as well. We have a horse sale, gymnastics even circus skills on a suspended saddle, one cannot say that the lady has not got a lot of strings to her bow. The strangest bit for me was the finale, where she partly strips off and in a bath of water some how manages to emerge in an evening dress and drags an audience member up to dance with her. Strange doesn’t cover it. I felt that the performance was a little flat, maybe the weather and the small audience numbers didn’t help her case, but I’m afraid it was not the best hour I have spent this Fringe.   ***
