Neil Delamere- Liminal 5***** - One4Review

Neil Delamere- Liminal 5*****

| On 20, Aug 2022

2007 was the year I first saw Neil Delamere perform at the Fringe, although he is a big star in Ireland, it has always been a mystery to me why this extremely talented and funny Irishman is not as well known as fellow countrymen, Dara O’Briain, Ed Byrne or Jason Byrne in the UK.

His hour as normal is a mixture of club comic and stories. He loves to chat with the audience, gently ribbing some, praising others but remembering what he learned to call back to later. And the pre-prepared stuff, which is as usual finely written, packed with laughs and delivered in his own inimitable style.

Delamere’s scope is wide, Boris gets a mention, WhatsApp snitching on you, his appearance on Dancing with the Stars, air line tannoy rivalry, disorganised people, and how the new family pet disturbed the household dynamics yet gave him scope for a good couple of stories for him to weave his magic on, and this was just a bullet point selection of some topics he found the funny with.

As previously hinted at, one of his traits is to briefly summarise and occasionally embellish the audience responses received earlier, again this drew both laughter and in many, many cases admiration of a totally complete and hilarious performer.
