So what do you want to see comedy wise on a Fringe midafternoon? Well you could do a lot worse than to see Scottish comedian and actor Chris Forbes for an hour of non-threatening, well written comedy with a lot of laughs throughout.
Arriving onto his stage, referencing the smell in the room, asking why the audience had chosen him, was it his Scot Squad TV comedy role, or his ‘Duncan’, the other non-tennis playing brother of Andy and Jamie Murray, both very popular roles. Or could it be that Forbes is an accomplished funny man, whichever a good sized crowd were treated to funny hour of his musings.
Forbes comes over as a nice guy, a family man and a dad. But he is a comic, he is not averse to getting funny material about his wife, his mother, his daughter and while the material is usually laugh out loud, it is never mean.
Feeling he needs to get fitter he has stopped smoking and taken up running , but is it just for fitness? He wants to be around for future family milestones, and he doesn’t want to miss out.
It was a really enjoyable hour spent in the company of a very pleasant and funny man. A good start to a comedy day.
