Gareth Mutch has had an interesting past 12 months he muses shortly after coming on stage and a gentle warm up. A lot has happened. On turning 30, he claims on of the worst ages, not old, but not young either, he has got married, and in someway his take on like has altered too, he lists and expounds on several examples and although virtually all of his audience was older than him, seemed to get the laughs the material deserves. A wedding reception for example where he knew nobody and the goings on were hilarious, and delightfully written.
The show title stems from reading a list of the 50 ways to tell if he was a modern man sparked his interest and having tested himself found he failed badly. And he thought he was a modern man!
Mutch also has plenty to say about falling in love, about being married, Stephen King and how a Danny Dyer TV series threatened to undermine his show.
Gareth is an engaging comedian, he has plenty of stage presence and an ability to find laughs in virtually any situation. But can he tick mode boxes on his Modern Man list? Well, why not go and see for yourselves.
